The project team and the Beneficiary have been looking at some forward planning in relation to Activity 1.13 the selection of the pilot installation for the PRTR system testing. There were two key deliverables expected from this activity. The determination of two pilot installations from each of the nine industry sectors of E-PRTR Regulation Annex -1 (Total number of 18 installations):

• List of Selection Criteria
• List of Pilot Installations

In this regard the project team and the Beneficiary have been undertaking the first of several joint site visits to facilitate the selection process for identifying suitable pilot installations from each of the nine industry sectors covered by the PRTR regulations.

The purpose of the pilot installations was basically:

1. To be able to test the PRTR software with real and credible data from the 9 industry sectors relevant to the EPRTR regulation and,
2. To facilitate the training of stakeholders through the use of these installations as they went through the PRTR reporting process

In order to ensure that the pilot installations were selected with these purposes in mind a methodology of selection was established with the Beneficiary and salient criteria were applied to the process.
The first site visit was performed on 21 November 2017 to İç Anadolu Power Plant, Kırıkkale. The purpose of the site visit was to determine the suitability of the installation to act as a pilot installation from the energy sector.
The idea of Activity 1.13 of the project ToR was to have two pilot installations from each of nine industrial sectors of E-PRTR Regulation Annex-1 (total number of 18 pilot installations).
The İç Anadolu Combined Cycle Power Plant is owned by Gama Energy and its main technical features are listed below:

• Installed Capacity: 840 MW
• Annual Average Electricity Production: 6,300 GWh
• Main Equipment: 2 x 280 MW GT (GE 9F.05) + 1 x 280 MW ST (GE D11)
• Duration of License: 49 years from 2011
• Commercial Operation Date: 2016
• Location: Kırıkkale, Turkey

The second site visit was performed on 23 November 2017 at Kaymaz Gold Mine Facility, Eskişehir. Kaymaz Gold Mine Facility is owned by Koza Gold Inc. and situated at Kaymaz village of Sivrihisar town, Province of Eskisehir includes Damdamca and Topkaya fields. Damdamca Project area, which is 2 km east of Kaymaz and 1.5km west of Karakaya villages has ore preparation and enrichment units, waste storage facility, open pit, waste stockpile area and auxiliary unit. Topkaya Project area just 530metre south of Karakaya village has only an open pit.

Kaymaz Gold Mine was constructed and commissioned in 2011. Plant’s first designed capacity started to produce 55 tonnes/h. and by the last quarter of 2013, it has reached to 100 tonnes/h. Production method at Kaymaz Gold Mine is open pit. Produced ore is fed into plant located on the mine site. Damdamca Open Pit commenced in 2011 and Karakaya pit in 2013.

Ore is processed at Kaymaz Operations with tank leach method to produce gold. Ore received from crusher is grinded in ball and rod mills and fed into leach tanks. Gold is poured once a week at the plant, which has average feeding capacity of 100 tonnes /h. Gold, is poured once a week at the plant, which has average feeding capacity of 100 tonnes /h.
