Activity 2.6. Training of Trainers

Under Activity 2.5 of the Project, Training of Trainers, which consists of a three-week program, was delivered to the staff of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and to the representatives from the private sector so as to improve their technical capacity on PRTR legislation, reporting system, and PRTR implementations as well as to develop their training preparation and execution skills.

The first week of the training was held between 17-22 December 2018 and the participants were given general information about the legislation and implementation of PRTR. Participants were allowed access to the draft PRTR software prepared during the project and classroom training was delivered on sector specific reporting.

The second week of the training was held on 21-25 January 2019 and focused on field practices as well as presentations on the calculation/measurement methods used in the Spanish PRTR system. Participants visited the following places and examined environmental monitoring efforts on-site:

• Laboratory, Measurement and Monitoring Department (Directorate General of EIA, Permit and Inspection)
• Polatlı Wastewater Treatment Plant
• ITC Recycling Facility.

In the third week of the training, which was held on February 11-15, 2019, presentations were made to the participants to improve their training arrangement and organization skills. Besides, practical calculations were made for the sample sectors regarding the implementation of the E-PRTR in Spain.
